East Meets West is a cross-cultural musical journey uniting the Chinese erhu, Japanese koto and shamisen with the Western string quartet. Featuring works by Michael Ippolito, Stephanie Chou, Yaoxin Chen, Tienhua Liu, and Daron Hagen, the program explores
the meeting point of traditions through vivid storytelling—ranging from whimsical Japanese folk scenes and Chinese animal-inspired suites to the lyrical elegance of The Tale of Genji. Blending instruments, styles, and philosophies, this performance celebrates the harmony and contrast of global musical voices.
